Current Situation- Allen County ranks 11th among Ohio counties for teen pregnancy rates. A review of the 2014 Allen County teen births shows that the majority of births among these young women occurred in 19 year olds (47%). Twenty-two percent of Allen County teen births in 2014 were to African Americans; African Americans make up only 13% of the total population in Allen County.

What is being done in our Community?
The Teen Pregnancy Prevention Task Force has been started again in Allen County. It is the goal of the program to begin education in the schools with an evidence-based curriculum. The group will also be doing programs in the community.
Guiding Light, a house for pregnant teens and young mothers opened its doors in 2013. Guiding Light will teach women staying there hands-on life skills, nutritious ways of eating and goal setting.
