Transportation Projects in Allen County

The LACRPC, as the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) of the Lima Urbanized Area, in conjunction with the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), is responsible for coordinating transportation planning activities within the Allen County area.  As the MPO, the LACRPC is involved in various long and short range transportation planning activities that include, but are not limited to, intersection safety and corridor studies, transportation modeling, transit and paratransit planning, as well as developing short-range transportation improvement programs (TIP). 

The LACRPC is required to prepare a TIP, on a fiscal year (FY) basis, entailing all regionally significant highway, transit, paratransit as well as pedestrian and bicycle system improvements scheduled for implementation with federal, state, and local funds over a four year period.  Projects in the TIP have been derived from the region's transportation plans. Those transportation plans include the following: 2030 Long Range Transportation Plan Update (2009); Transit Authority's Operational Analysis and Management Plan (2010); and the area's Public Transit-Human Services Transportation Coordination Plan (2008).  As each TIP project must be compatible with both long and short-range transportation plans, projects reflect current transportation priorities in Allen County.

The current TIP is a comprehensive listing and description of capital improvement projects scheduled for implementation within the FY 2012-2015.  The projects are intended to maintain and provide for a safe, efficient, economical, and environmentally sound system for the transportation of both people and goods.
