COLE STREET PEDESTRIAN/BIKEWAY

Goat trails - no sidewalks - broken sidewalks connected to nothing???  Sidewalks that people with mobility devices cannot use.  Sound familiar?  Lima and Allen County transportation professionals are working to make it easier to walk to work, ride a bike, use a wheelchair, or just go for an evening stroll.  The Cole Street Pedestrian/Bikeway, finished the summer of 2011, goes from Robb Avenue and Brower Road.  It improves non-motorized transportation and provides a physical connection for pedestrians and bicyclists. It will improve the safety of pedestrians and bicyclists as well as the mobility impaired who utilize Cole Street to access Robb Park from several residential neighborhoods on the north side of Lima.  The multi-use path connects the pedestrian facilities on Brower Road with those on Robb Avenue and continue to link city parks, open spaces, schools, featured attractions, and residential neighborhoods with bikelanes, bikeways, and sidewalks through congested urban areas.  It provides a safe, inviting, 10 foot wide asphalt path for all users to encourage regular healthy exercise for transportation and recreation.   Not only does it the multi-use path encourage physical activity, but mitigates vehicular congestion on roads and improves air quality.   Lima and all of Allen County will be a more liveable community thanks to projects like the Cole Street Pedestrian/Bikeway.
