What is this Indicator?  This indicator shows the Allen County fatality rate.

Why this is important?   The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) established a national goal of 1.0 fatalities per 100 million miles traveled.  Such goals allow local jurisdictions to measure effectiveness of efforts to reduce serious crashes as compared to a national standard.   Tracking and examining the contributing factors to such serious crashes allows planners, engineers, law enforcement, as well as emergency responders to identify problems and work to reduce the incidence of these events.

Technical Note:    The fatality rate is calculated based on traffic related fatalities per year per 100 million miles traveled.
