| What is this
Indicator? This indicator shows the Allen
County fatality rate. |

Why this is important? The U.
S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) established a national goal
of 1.0 fatalities per 100 million miles traveled. Such goals
allow local jurisdictions to measure effectiveness of efforts to
reduce serious crashes as compared to a national
standard. Tracking and examining the contributing
factors to such serious crashes allows planners,
engineers, law enforcement, as well as emergency responders to
identify problems and work to reduce the incidence of these
events.
