| What is this
Indicator? Costs per mile reflect all
costs associated with delivery of demand routes service in CY
2010 and include direct, indirect and other direct costs. Such
costs are associated with personnel wages and benefits;
vehicle costs and depreciation, fuel and insurance;
operational support including dispatching and scheduling;
and, building costs including depreciation and
utilities. |
| Why this is
important: Costs per mile is a basic
indicator used to assess system performance by the local Transit
Agency, the Ohio Department of Transportation and Federal Transit
Administration. Costs vary by the type of public transportation
services provided and the urban/rural character of such
services. Allen County is unique in that it is providing a full
range of services to both urban and rural residents of Allen County
and is therefore operating two different types of service within a
single system. |
| Technical Note: The Ohio
Department of Transportation tracks such costs on an annual basis
for all fixed route systems. |
