| What is this
Indicator? This indicator shows the percentage of
all workers age 16 years and over who commute to work
using public transit. |
| Why this is important?
Transit can help bridge the spatial divide between people
and jobs, services, and training opportunities. Public
transportation is also beneficial because it reduces fuel
consumption, minimizes air pollution, and relieves traffic
congestion. |
| Technical Note:
According to the 2000 Census, 2.1% of Ohioans over 16 used
transit for work-related trips. In 2009, less than
.08% of Allen County residents over the age of 16 used transit for
work trips, while the mean is 1.05%. |
