| What is this
Indicator? This indicator depicts alcohol
/ impaired driving fatalities as a precent of total crash
fatalities that occurred on Allen County roadways during
calendar year 2011. In 2010, there was one alcohol related
traffic crash fatality, or 25% of all traffic
fatalities. |
|
Why this is important? Numbers
of alcohol/impaired driving crashes are indicators of the
safety of county and township roads, city
streets, as well as state and interstate highways.
Tracking and examining the contributing factors to all
crashes allows planners, engineers, law enforcement, as
well as emergency responders to identify problems and work to
reduce the incidence of these events.
|
| Technical Note:
Most recent available Ohio crash data for 2010
reports that impaired driving crash fatalities accounted for 31.6%
of all Ohio traffic crash fatalities. National crash data for
the same period reports that 31.1% of all traffic fatalities, as a
percentage of all fatalities, involved impaired driving. |
