| What is this
Indicator? This indicator shows the total
number of pedestrian crashes that occurred in the City of
Lima during the study period 2006 - 2010. The
City of Lima experienced more crashes, during the study period
2006-2010, than any other Ohio city of similar size, with 118
such crashes. When a standard crash rate, i.e. "crashes per
100,000 population", is applied, the crash rate for
the City of Lima is 304.4 per 100,000 population -
compared to the average Ohio crash rate of 110.77 per 100,000
population in cities of similar size. |
|
Why this is important? Numbers
of pedestrian crashes, as are all crashes, indicators of
the safety of county and township roads, city
streets, as well as state and interstate highways.
Tracking and examining the crash contributing factors allows
planners, engineers, law enforcement, as well as emergency
responders to identify problems and work to reduce the
incidence of these events.
