The Lima-Allen County Regional Planning Commission is a designated census affiliate of the Office of Policy Research and Strategic Planning, which acts as the state government liaison to the U.S. Census Bureau and U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis. As an affiliate, the Commission receives demographic, economic, and social data for west central Ohio, with an emphasis on County cities, villages, and townships.

Detailed data is available from the 2010, 2000, and 1990 decennial Census of Population and Housing, on-going American Community Survey, Economic Census (every five years), and the Population Estimates Program.
The U.S. Census Bureau has released a limited data set of the 2020 Census to the Lima-Allen County Regional Planning Commission. The released information provides a breakdown of demographic, housing, and economic data of the greater population densities of Allen County. A more comprehensive data set of Allen County will be available when the official Census has been published.
